Product Designer - RewardOps

MAR 2021 - NOV 2023, TORONTO

Designed loyalty web stores for Desjardins, MBNA, and Westpac for all device types, collaborating with product managers and software development leads to research and solidify user flows and create functional e-commerce components tailored to loyalty shoppers and point redemption. Also worked to continuously improve the user experience of RewardOps’s item and order management software, used by loyalty programs to service their web stores.

  • Created a modular white label mobile-first design system and component library in Figma, hydrating it to adhere to the client's existing digital presence and brand guidelines.

  • Collaborated with client-side marketing and product personnel to align on loyalty store layout, accessibility standards, and SSO integration with online banking portals.  

  • Solutioned and prototyped a cash/points split component that allowed users to top up their points balance with cash, reducing bailouts and cart abandonment by close to 25%.

  • Designed web forms, promotional tools, and led the overhaul of account management components for RewardOps’ item and order management dashboard.

  • Researched and developed personas for client-side product managers through 1-on-1 interviews and focus group sessions. 

  • Designed graphic materials for RFPs and was responsible for the upkeep of the corporate website in Webflow. 

UX Analyst - Bell Canada

OCT 2019 - JULY 2020, MISSISSAUGA

In a hybrid business analyst-UX designer role, collaborated with project managers, technical leads, and business architects to spearhead the requirements gathering and design process for the Government of Alberta's procurement portal servicing over 500 provincial buildings with over 100 technical users. 

  • Responsible for transforming Excel order forms to web forms leveraging auto-complete, auto-population, and validation functionality to streamline data entry and reduce user slips and missteps. 

  • Collaborated closely with Bell technicians and Government of Alberta SMEs to elicit functional and non-functional requirements and produce user stories matched to personas.

  • Modeled the portal on a “checkout model” that required the user to add or modify services, input service locations, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to Bell service standards.

  • Produced wireframes and medium fidelity prototypes in Figma and administered usability testing sessions with Government of Alberta users in InVision and Azure RP. Collected and processed findings and iterated as necessary. 

UX/UI Designer - EVNTL

OCT 2018 - OCT 2019, VAUGHAN

Led the redesign of an AI-powered critical-breaking-news web app for security sector stakeholders such as Garda and MLSE and implemented components such as tickers, content streams, and geolocation features in collaboration with executives and full stack and iOS developers. 

  • Worked with SMEs in policing and national intelligence to understand the software’s user base and context of use towards the goal of crafting user flows and experiences that align with the workflows of security personnel in busy headquarters. 

  • Conducted an extensive UX audit of our primary competitor to determine how the interface could leverage our competitive advantages.

  • Designed a fully responsive design system and component library in Material UI for all device types as well as a separate component library for the native iOS app.

  • Designed company logos, website assets, and graphic materials that were integral to the RFP process.

Business Analyst - Environment Canada

MAY 2016 - AUG 2017, TORONTO

Designed the interface of an internal meteorological database used by more than 250 SMEs across Canada. This involved playing an integral role in defining business rules, requirements, and creating low-fidelity mockups for usability testing. Implemented an ethnographic user testing plan focused on gaining insight into the workflow and software meteorologists use to issue severe weather alerts. 

  • Elicited and refined functional and non-functional business requirements related to data presentation and stewardship in collaboration with SMEs in weather stations across Canada, using ER and Business Process diagramming as needed.

  • Assisted the development of detailed user stories with clearly defined success criteria and performed validation and quality assurance-related tasks on MVPs.

  • Designed low-fidelity mockups of new features, planned and administered usability tests with end users, and analyzed and presented findings to upper management in a continuous and iterative design process.

  • Played an integral role in designing and implementing a user research plan for a next-generation meteorological software, aimed at shadowing meteorologists in service of documenting their workflow when issuing severe weather alerts.
